Giffords Proves Gun Laws Do Not Reduce Homicides
Of course they did so accidentally
The presumably well intentioned useful idiots over at Giffords have released their annual gun safety grade report for the states. I am proud to live in Idaho where we received an F. I love that we received an F because that tells me that Idaho respects the Second Amendment.
So let’s talk about those Giffords rankings a bit...
My current state of Idaho received an F while my former state of California, where I worked my entire career as a cop, received an A, and yet according to the CDC’s annual homicide mortality rate statistics (most recent year is 2023), Idaho’s homicide rate (2.7 per 100k) is half of California’s (5.1)?
Meanwhile crime ridden Illinois, thanks mainly to Chicago, gets an A on gun laws, yet has a high homicide rate (9.8). Good old New Mexico gets a B- on gun laws, but has one of the highest homicide rates (14.7). Right next door in Texas, they got an F from Giffords yet they have a homicide rate (7.1) that is less that half of New Mexico.
Virginia gets a B+ from Giffords but has a high homicide rate (6.8) and next door in West Viginia they got an F for their gun laws but have a lower homicide rate (5.4).
I could go on, but if you are like me and you function on logic you already got the point, and if you function on emotion, like the people at Giffords, nothing will ever drive the point home.
What is the point? There is absolutely zero correlation between strict gun laws and homicide rates.
If you are one of those people who think strict gun laws keep people safe, please explain to me why every state with an A is not the safest and why those with an F are not overrun with murders. Take your time, I’ll wait.
In the meantime, let me say it extra loud for all the stupid people, GUN LAWS DO NOT PREVENT CRIME!
I live in fear every day here in Montana. Almost everyone owns a scary gun. I dont even lock my doors at night because Im so afraid a gunmen will get into my house and I wont be able to escape him and his scary gun before he turns his AR-15 (automatic rifle, the 15 stands for how many people it can kill each second) fully automatic with the ghost gun feature and/or bump stock and the clip that holds 1000 bullets.
Im literally shaking right now just thinking about it.
These “gun safety” grades are actually grades for how much the state has eliminated the Constitutional right to keep & bear arms. In these states, you are denied the right of SELF-DEFENSE, because an unarmed, elderly woman like me is helpless if attacked by a criminal.
