How Long the Ammunition Shortage Will Last
We know there isn't a lot of ammo out there. What ammo you can find is well north of $1.00 a round now. So just how long will this ammunition shortage last?
Vista Outdoors is one of the largest ammo manufacturers in the United States. Vista owns Speer, CCI, Federal and RCBS just to name a few companies that have an impact on the ammunition industry. Last month, CEO Christopher Metz gave a quarterly earnings call and indicated that the ammo shortage will continue well through 2021.

“We currently have over a year’s worth of orders for ammunition in excess of $1 billion,” he said in his opening remarks. “This is unprecedented for our company. With demand far outstripping supply and inventory levels in the channel at all-time lows, we see strong demand continuing…”

Although Metz indicated a major factor of today's ammunition shortage is the abundance of new shooters, everyone is ignoring those that are hoarding ammunition. With riots by ANTIFA and BLM, a plandemic, and political insecurity in our nation, people feel the need to get as much ammunition as they can. To be blunt; we all know what is coming.
How You Can Be Ready for the Next Ammunition Shortage
This isn't the first ammunition shortage we have had. Now is not the time to be buying ammunition at $1.25 a round when you find it. That is throwing money out the window. If you have ammunition, find alternate ways to practice like Airsoft. For Glock and AR15 shooters, I like using these airsoft guns to practice with.
When this ammunition shortage ends (and it will), there will be a glut of ammunition. Prices will plummet to move the ammunition stored on shelves and not moving. That's when you buy ammunition. Buy a year's worth of ammunition or more and then store it in a safe place. When you go shooting, buy new ammunition and replace what you used. When the next ammunition shortage hits, and it will, you will have a steady supply to keep you shooting and to weather the storm.
