FedEx Driver Shoots, Kills Alleged Robbery Suspect
Police say a gunman was fatally shot by a FedEx driver during an attempted robbery on Tuesday night in Northeast Philadelphia. The shooting occurred after 7 p.m. on Unruh Avenue in the Lawndale area of the city.
The shooting happened when the driver was dropping off a package at a home. Police say that the alleged robber did not anticipate that the FedEx driver was armed. The driver said that he was approached at gunpoint by at least one robber.
According to police, the driver was shot in the abdomen and returned fire after being shot. The driver was able to drive himself away from the scene and then call police. Minutes later, police were called to the 1400 block of Creston Street where they found a 27 year old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and back. The suspect later died at the hospital.
A Good Guy with a Gun
FedEx told Philadelphia's CBS station that they don't comment on internal policies, so they did not disclose if the driver was allowed to be armed. However, we at 2A cops and cops throughout the US, appreciate seeing someone being able to defend themselves. We encourage states to pass constitutional carry laws so that people have the right to defend themselves.
